Biography
Emanuela de Paula is different compare to everyone else. She was born to a white Brazilian mother and her father was afro Brazilian. She is one of the few black women in fashion industry. She stated that ‘I am what we call mulata’. She belongs to Dutch, native Brazilian and African descent. She was born on April 25th in 1989.
Early life
At the age of nine she first took interest in modeling, when most children enjoy watching cartoons. A supermarket advertisement booked her quickly. She started visiting modeling agencies at the age of 15. Emanuela de Paula signed the first agency she visited, which was Marilyn Agency.
In 2005 in New York city she had her first season. Emanuela didn’t have a perfect model body at the start of her modeling. She had problems with cellulite, when she was at a younger age. She overcame the problem with hormonal therapy and some dietary changes. With this incident she was able to learned the importance of proper eating and exercise habits.
Since then she daily goes for a morning run and work out often whenever she gets time in her busy schedule. To have exercise variety she enjoys Pilates and boxing.
Career
She started runaway modeling for Ralph Lauren, bill Blass and Zac Posen, she got featured in W magazine in an article, photographed by Michael Thompson. She has also appeared in Victoria’s secret famous fashion show three different times.
De Paula has worked for tommy Hilfiger, Lacoste, shiatzy chen, alexander Herchcovitch, Kenneth cole and many more other brands. She is known to be the face of British retailer Next and Swedish clothing store Gina tricot.
Emanuela de Paula is proud of her Brazilian roots and her recent works proves that importance, in which she models clothing for Aimale brazil and Elle brazil. She also models swimsuits for august Official swimwear.
When de Paula was 20 years old, she landed two makeup campaigns: Prescriptive and MAC barbie collection. De Paula was ranked eleventh highest paid supermodel in 2009 earning $2.5 million according to Forbes. She has done modeling in São Paulo Fashion Week, which is a home to the largest fashion shows in Brazil.
Social life
Emanuela de Paula is not as popular as many other supermodels, but she has a huge number of followers on social media. Her Instagram followers are about 100,000 and over 150,000 followers on Facebook. Her feed is mostly about her favorite workouts and several landscapes she came across while traveling. Gratefully, no dishonest advertising is seen on social media accounts in overwhelming amount. Emanuela de Paula also runs her online blog, Manu by Manu.
