Another catwalk, another runway, another showdown but Estelle Chen is indeed not just another face in the modeling business. Starting her career when being found at 14 years of age and already have made it to the biggest fashion trend-setting brands such as the Victoria Secrets, in the course of just four years, Estelle Chen definitely has much more to offer than just another regular model.

Who is Estelle Chen?

Estelle Chen is a 20 years old aspiring model who has been on the rise since the day she stepped her foot into the modeling industry. Having a Chinese ethnical background and being born and raised in Paris makes the Chinese-bred French model get the best of both worlds.

The career outline

She was found by a modeling scout at the Elite Model Management who was her mother’s agent as well. She stepped into her dream career originally in 2013 by winning the Elite Model Look in France and later was able to sign a contract with them. Her first runway walk was for Eudon Choi in 2014 and continued her outstanding performances in F/W 15 fashion week 2015 where she was able to make her major breakthrough as she walked for exemplary brands such as Louis Vuitton, Veronique Leroy, Kenzo, and Miu Miu. She even made her way to the Dior Resort fashion show in Tokyo. The same year Chen walked for Dolce and Gabbana, Fendi, Michael Kors, Victoria Beckham, Emilio Pucci, Shiatzy Chen, Chloe, and other relevant brands. Chen finally made it to the Vogue Italia cover in 2016.

Chen has been able to attract many platforms through her passion over the course of her career but some major steps had made her deserve the place she has now. The French – Chinese model was selected for the 2017 Fashion show of the Victoria Secrets lingerie display which she considered was revolutionary for her career. On the announcement, Estelle Chen wrote a heartwarming post on her Instagram thanking every person who helped her to achieve this goal.

More than Modelling

Being an Asian model, Chen has faced many tribulations in her field. The lack of diversity in fashion shows was often addressed by her as she remained an active supporter of Instagram’s #RunwayForAll campaign as well. For the campaign, Chen posted frequent heartfelt posts about the lack of Asian and Black models in runway show casting sand how she had faced the same issues. As she wrote, “It always seemed like there were only ‘select’ slots available in the shows for models of color, so that was really hard to understand at the beginning, It kind of still is, even if the industry is more open now to diversity”.

 Estelle Chen, however, might be willing to take a break from modeling as recently showing concern for education and how she misses it and was inspired by her Karlie Kloss. Chen will be applying to HEC in Paris to complete her degree in economics.
