Unfortunately, they may not be as effective in a significant crisis should one arise. Unarmed guards cost less to hire. Ultimately, the needs of your business will dictate your security levels and whether or not they should be armed at all. Consider cost, situations where they might be needed, and any potential liability issues. These will give you a good basis for deciding which direction to go.
