Most homeowners take on a remodeling project in order to beautify their homes, to add space, or to add a personal touch of style. But you can also take a remodel further and use this process to make your home life easier and to add convenience.

When you purchase a home, there are many elements within that might not be placed in the best position, or there could be areas that need a bit of home improvement. And this is where you’ll want to focus your efforts when you begin your remodel.

For example, you might have a bathroom that offers too little space for storage. Or, you may not have adequate storage within your home. For these purposes, remodeling to accommodate for space not only offers convenience but can also help clear up any clutter around the house.

Here, we’ll explore a few home improvement ideas that can offer you more convenience and make your life easier in the process.

Installing Cabinets

Cabinets can be elaborately designed with ornate features and detailed carvings, or they could be just your average, run-of-the-mill cabinets that serve a basic purpose. But no matter the cosmetic features of your cabinetry, you can make them more convenient.

Installing cabinet pull-out shelves, or rolling cabinet shelves, offer you the added convenience of pulling out a cabinet shelf just like a drawer. And this can eliminate the act of reaching in and fumbling over cookware to find the items you need. Simply pull them out to load or to unload as needed.

Additionally, you can also install “Lazy-Susan” cabinetry. And these are usually corner cabinets with a revolving mechanism that allows you to rotate the cabinet so that you can store items and retrieve them without having to hunt through items in your cabinets.

Both of these options allow you more convenience in the kitchen.

Bathroom Space

Bathroom Space

One of the biggest pet peeves for most homeowners is a bathroom that offers little space to move around. This can not only be stifling, but you’ll also end up storing supplies such as towels and toilet paper in other areas, and the last thing you’ll want to do is to run down the hall hunting for a towel after a shower.

If you have a bathroom that you feel doesn’t offer adequate space, there are a few remedies for this situation.

You could install floating cabinets or shelves over the toilet area. And this could be a great place to store extra towels or toilet paper.

Another option is to widen the bathroom. But this is going to be the more costly option.

However, most bathrooms have a few feet of crawl space between walls. If your bathroom layout is accommodating, you could simply widen the walls by a foot or two in order to offer a bit more space.

Remote Controlled Garage Doors

Believe it or not, there are many homes that do not have remote-controlled door opening systems installed. And if you’ve ever had to get out of your car in a rainstorm to open the garage door, you know just how frustrating this can be.

Installing a garage door opening system is fairly simple. But if you’re not the most mechanically inclined, you can have a garage door opener installed professionally if you so choose.

The great thing about modern garage door openers is that they are now built with safety sensors. And many include motion sensors so that if there is an obstruction between the garage door and the foundation, the door will stop movement. And this is a great feature to have especially if you have small children.

We all want to make our homes as comfortable as possible. And sometimes, when we buy an older home, there are many areas that need improvement. By adjusting a few areas of the home to your liking, you’ll soon realize just how much more comfortable and convenient your life will be.
